TRANSPORT.

From London Paddington there is a direct train to Newport that takes approx. 3hrs, you can then change onto a second train that takes 30 mins and arrives into the main station of Abergavenny. From here it is about a 30 minute journey to the hostel.

Please note transport will not be arranged for you.

ACCOMMODATION.

YHA Danywenallt Brecon Beacons - Talybont-on-Usk, Brecon LD3 7YS

We aim to hire this hostel exclusively for our event, however this will be dependent on the number of entrants.

On site parking is available for a few cars, however, where possible we ask you to maximise car sharing.

Linen is included but you may have to make up your own bed.

Towels are not included, nor are you able to hire them, so please don’t forget to bring your own.

The hostel has a low noise policy after 10pm outside, however, don’t worry because there is a pub within a 20 minute walking distance to continue celebrations after this time.

FRIDAY NIGHT MARINE WORKOUT.

This event welcomes several of our ex-military and veteran partners, who join us to provide inspiration and encouragement throughout our weekend together. On arrival you will be able to take part in a ‘Marine style’ workout instructed by one or more of these inspirational ex-forces members. They will take you through a fun and unforgettable outdoors icebreaker.

The Welsh weather can be quite unpredictable, and even in May it is likely to rain. Due to our marine workout being held outside please bring extra workout clothes/trainers that you do not mind getting wet and muddy and will not require for hiking in on the following day.

We suggest you also invest in a disposable poncho – these can be purchased from Tesco’s (normally in the Car or Camping sections of the store) for just a pound or two.

TOUR GUIDE.

Company: Peak Events (Pure Outdoor) or Large Outdoors

Participant to guide ratio will be minimum 1:12

The selected company will have public liability insurance and guides are first aid trained.

Please note our starting and finishing points will be a 20-30 min coach journey from our accommodation, so please be prepared to depart both the accommodation and finishing point promptly as there will only be one transfer each way.

In addition to this events pack are 4 documents from both us and our tour guide company (we are legally required to provide you with this information so please take the time to read through it).

  • Guide Company’s Acknowledgement of Risk Form - This will be provided closer to the day and everyone will need to complete this before we commence our hike.
  • Kit List – attached to registration confirmation email. Please note: The essential kit is mandatory and failure to have this kit may prevent you from taking part in this event.
  • Training Tips – attached to registration confirmation email.
  • Event Terms & Conditions – link within registration confirmation email.
EVENT SCHEDULE & FOOD CHOICES.
